Turning anger of God into His compassion

"And the people of Nineveh believed God. They called for a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them." Jonah 3:5

Humans journey through various circumstances from birth till death. Believers attain their spiritual maturity at different ages. The beloved children of God undergo many situations that determine their growth in Christ. The Holy Bible shows many instances where one could go wrong. Bible shows that some lives become ruined forever. Only those that repent and correct themselves receive another chance to live according to the will of God.

Remaining close to God is the only way to be safe from sins and violence. Nothing and noone can ever defeat what God does for His children. The incidents written in the book of Jonah proves so. God knew Jonah. God also knew the King and people of Nineveh! Jonah altered the plans considering his safety. Jonah had to finally obey God. Jonah knew only God could deliver Jonah from the problems that originated from his alternative plan. Merciful God proved that following the plan of God was far more better than simply fearing Nineveh.

As soon as Jonah called out to the city, the people believed God. (Jonah 3:5) Jonah was heard by the people of Nineveh and, Jonah was safe. Nineveh only needed the right person to realise the truth. People of Nineveh repented. First, they believed God. Second, they fasted. Third, they put on sackcloth. The King of Nineveh humbled himself before God. (Jonah 3:6) The King issued a decree for the entire city so that they would be saved. Everyone turned from their sins and violence at once in order to return to their God. And, God relented. Nineveh became successful in turning the anger of God into mercy.

The world is sinking in sin everyday. Atrocities are very commonly occurring at all places. The anger of the Lord is visible in most circumstances. It is time to gather in fasting and turn away the anger of the Lord. It is written in Proverbs 28:13, "Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who y confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy."

Blooming staff prays that believers realise the need for repentance and gather together to cry for the mercy of the Lord. If a city believes God, fasts and humble themselves in all aspects before God, His anger will turn into mercy. The efforts are enormous but worthy since our loving God reveals His love in the below verse.
"And the LORD said, “You pity the plant, for which you did not labor, nor did you make it grow, which came into being in a night and perished in a night. And should not I pity Nineveh, that great city, in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know their right hand from their left, and also much cattle?” Jonah 4:10,11

Prayer: Our Father, we realise your compassion and the seriousness of our sins. Please guide us together into repentance that will save our respective places. Amen.
