Believers like Mordecai

BELIEVERS LIKE MORDECAI

Esther 3:4

"And when they spoke to him day after day and he would not listen to them, they told Haman, in order to see whether Mordecai's words would stand, for he had told them that he was a Jew."

All aspects of life are described in the Holy Bible. Deeply understanding the verses is all that needs to be done. Believers know submitting oneself to God means living submissively to the word of God. That includes decision-making too. Submissiveness to God brings His wonder-working protection. Bible teaches situations and surroundings of Mordecai had no influence on his commitment to God. What God did for Mordecai is a reminder that no harm is allowed to those who obey God.

The co-workers of Mordecai knew his identity. Being a Jew means living submissively to the commandments of God entire life. (Deuteronomy 6:2) That was the extraordinary way God prepared to bless his people. Mordecai was repeatedly asked to bow Haman. His situations were forcing him to break the commandment of God. He can bow only to God (Exodus 20:5). Mordecai knows this, his colleagues do not. While his co-workers were concerned about the rule, Mordecai firmly obeyed the commandment of God. They reported this matter to Haman to see if Mordecai's words would stand. The above verse reveals Mordecai was first targeted by his co-workers. They wanted to know if Mordecai's words would stand. Haman targeted the entire Jewish community once he got information about Mordecai. God was still first priority for Mordecai. The book of Esther ends showing God not only protected Mordecai and His people but also honoured them.

Romans 2:29 "But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God." Believers living in submission to above verse are regarded as Jews at heart. They receive all promises written in the word of God despite any temporary hindrances. Believers know that problems arise to challenge if their words would stand. Believers are often targeted by Satan using tough situations and people around them. Satan wants believers to disobey God. Disobedience to God is the way to keep one from obtaining His blessings. Standing firm in God brings protection and honour from Him.

Mordecai and his entire community fasted together in prayer when they heard of the danger Haman plotted against them. Jews gather in unity for fasting and praying to God during worst problems. (Esther 4:16) Fasting and fellowship performs miracles. The entire community experienced deliverance from God after their fasting prayer of 3 days. Devil hates unity in believers. The reason is written in Matthew 18:19, "Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven."

There might have been many tough situations when believers disobeyed God knowingly or unknowingly in the past. Our merciful God forgives. Our God gives another chance when believers repent about their wrong decisions while straying away from God. (1 John 1:9, Acts 3:19, Luke 5:32)

Concluding prayerfully, this article pays respect to all Mordecais wherever God placed you. This article encourages everyone who wants to correct themselves. It is only a matter of confessing to our loving God. May more Mordecais continue to be born at heart. May their words stand. May miracles happen while fasting together. May God continue to be the first priority as always.

Remember,

“If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the Jewish people, you will not overcome him but will surely fall before him.” (Esther 6:13b)

Prayer: Loving Lord, may there be more Mordecais that stand firm for You in all situations. May this article glorify your Holy name. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
