Salvation of Zacchaeus

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:10

Zacchaeus was a son of Abraham. (Luke 19:9) Zacchaeus was a rich man with a rewarding profession. (Luke 19:2) And, Zacchaeus was considered a sinner. (Luke 19:7) Being a chief tax collector at that time and region must have been really hard. It is understood Zacchaeus had all that he wanted in life. Yet, he wanted to see Jesus. The Bible passage records every effort that the short man took to see Jesus. That means Holy Spirit recognizes sincerity in human beings. Having to run ahead of a crowd and climbing a tree unexpectedly would exhaust anyone. The unexpected activities must have been tough for the small man. However, Zacchaeus valued his opportunity to see Jesus passing by. He did all that he could, making accurate use of time.

All efforts worked well for Zacchaeus. Jesus stopped at the tree he was on. The Holy Bible reveals here that Jesus will stop anywhere to see anyone that takes effort. Jesus knows the need of each person. Jesus will stay at the home of the one that desires Him. If one takes effort to seek Jesus, Jesus will stay at their home. Zacchaeus received Jesus joyfully when Jesus told He was staying at the house of Zacchaeus that day. Jesus stayed at the home of a small rich man that took efforts to just see Him pass by. It is a great quality of Zacchaeus to receive Jesus joyfully without any hesitation.

The crowd will grumble upon finding out that Jesus is going to stay at the house of one who does not belong to them. The one Jesus will stay with gets tagged as a sinner. (Luke 19:7) The one Jesus stays with cannot belong to any crowd. The relationship with Jesus is very pure.  Although the crowd became challenge in the beginning and in the end, the crowd did not defeat Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus overcame the challenge of crowd at first by running ahead of the crowd and climbing a tree located on the way Jesus was passing. Zacchaeus informed his decision of salvation during the second challenge. Zacchaeus declared half his goods be donated to the poor. Zacchaeus declared fourfold restoration if he defrauded anyone of anything. Jesus said to Zacchaeus that salvation has come to his home since he is also a son of Abraham.

Blooming staff urges each reader to embrace the courage to seek Jesus in spite of frightening challenges. The Holy Bible proves Jesus never ignores anyone. The Holy Bible proves challenges cannot defeat anyone who seeks Jesus sincerely. The reason is evident in Luke 19:10. Only the lost ones will seek Jesus. The lost ones seek only the one they belong to. And, Jesus comes to save the lost. Jesus saves those that belong to Him. Salvation is thus powerful beyond imagination. With salvation comes concern for the poor. With salvation comes correction of mistakes. Our Lord came to seek the lost. Our Lord came to save the lost. Salvation is worthier than any luxury one can afford. Yet, salvation is freely given by Jesus to those that need Jesus. Utilising time to attain salvation will surely benefit believers.

Prayer: Most gracious Lord, we need salvation at our home. Stay with us forever so we shall never be lost again. Fill us with your wisdom to be ready for your second coming. Amen.
